This game just kinda sucks, they did this map some real awesome justice in the gold pack of the first Medieval Total War, if you want to try to get that to work be my guest. Mind you I love the viking era of history in Britannia. It is really pathetic as a total war team put tons of effort into this years ago. Also I think the devs knew they didn't put any effort into making this fun because there are only like 8 factions to pick from all of which have no real defining factors except where they spawn.
Artillery isn't a thing, I guess you can make some rangeguys, but don't expect the Irish swordguys to be different from the viking axeguys, and don't expect the Engish spearguys to be different from the Pictish spearguys (who are just considered the same culture as Irish I guess). You will have spearguys, swordguys, axeguys, and some horseguys. But this game really really makes all the nations feel the same. My favorite total war is Empire, so I'm kinda fine with some carbon copy units. So, I've always loved total war games, I have well over 2000 hours played between the OG medieval total war to Warhammer 2.
